Chamber in PVC profiles - a segment filled with air, which affects the thermal, stability and resistance to deformation of the entire window. The outer chamber is used for drainage, hence the openings in it. The other chambers act as insulation.

How do we count the chambers?in the case of frames - in a cross-section located approx. 10 mm from the base of the frame, in the case of a sash - in a cross-section located approx. 10 mm from the mounting of the perimeter hardware (in the direction of the pane mounting), in the case of posts - in a cross-section located approx. 10 mm from the axis of symmetry.

What is influenced by the number of chambers in the PVC profile?

PVC window frame profiles are made of chambers. A greater number of chambers in the profile, which usually goes with increasing the depth of the profiles, impacts the thermal insulation. Increasing the depth of construction and the number of chambers in the profiles brings measurable effects only to a certain extent and, observing the market offer and trends in the design of new solutions, it can be concluded that today's energy-saving profiles are characterized by a six-chamber structure and a depth of more than 80 mm. Nevertheless, these assumptions become irrelevant in the context of systems appearing on the market, in which it is not the number of chambers, but the lack of steel reinforcements or the gluing of glazing units that determine the thermal properties of the profiles.
